Oppenheimer and Barbie, which was released last month, occupied the agenda of the movie community for a very long time. The winner of these two films, which have been competing at the box office for a long time, was announced a long time ago: Barbie. But the movie did not only beat Oppenheimer. It broke other records as well.
Barbie ranks 14th on the list of the highest global box office
Released on July 21, the Barbie movie, which completed its 2nd month on the big screen, made a quick entry into the global box office records list, ranking 14th and surpassing Avengers: Age of Ultron. Barbie’s current real box office profit is 1 billion 417 million 778 thousand 910 dollars. Avengers: Age of Ultron had a box office of 1 billion 405 million 18 thousand 48 dollars.
At the top of the list, as you all know, is James Cameron’s Avatar, which was recently re-released, followed by Avengers: Endgame.
And this is not Barbie’s only record. In its home country of the United States, the movie has again topped the box office with $626 million, surpassing the first Avengers movie released in 2012, which had a domestic box office of $623 million.
The Avengers ranks 10th on the global list with $1 billion 520 million 538 thousand 536. In other words, Barbie needs to earn 102 million 759 thousand 626 dollars more to get there.
Barbie has been breaking records since it was released on July 21. Her records include the highest-grossing movie of 2023, the highest-grossing movie by a solo female director, and the 14th highest-grossing movie of all time.
The Barbie series is sad: Big blow to popular movie!
The movie, which is now in digital release globally (we’ll have to wait a little longer because of the 5-month wait in our country), hilariously tells the story of what would happen if the beloved doll had to go to the “real world”.
Starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the film has received rave reviews, including one from Total Film, which called it “brilliant”.
Barbie is now heading into awards season with news that Gosling will be nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 Academy Awards. If selected, he will face stiff competition from Robert Downey Jr. for his role in Oppenheimer. What do you think?
